RUPES Random Orbital Backing Plate – Precision and Stability for BigFoot Polishing Systems.

Random Orbital Backing Plate forms a critical part of the BigFoot Random Orbital Polishing System and is currently available in few sizes, with each size is useful for a specific subset of BigFoot machines. All sizes are from nylon and flexible polyurethane, which together are particularly resistant to mechanical stress. Furthermore, they are all meet a specific weight target, which ensures that they work in perfect harmony with the counterbalance in the machines. This approach, which is also used for the full range of BigFoot polishing pads, ensures that the balance of each machine is optimized and that vibration levels are minimized.

The carefully positioned ventilation holes in each size variant create an airflow pathway that dissipates frictional heat. Therefore, it helps to maintain safe working temperatures, even on relatively sensitive substrates such as aluminum and carbon fiber. The hook and loop fastening material useful for all size variants. It is excellent to be able to withstand the extreme lateral forces generated by long-throw dual action polishers. Also Random Orbital Backing Plate provides solid anchoring and exceptional pad stability while each machine is in use. The amount of vertical grip, however, is normal, thus ensuring that BigFoot polishing pads remain easy to affix and remove.

Special perforations in this backing plate are great to create an air flow that helps dissipate any heat from polishing.

The Velcro on the backing provides an effective anchor for the foam polishing pad. This direct flow backing plate is designed specifically for this polisher and is not compatible with other dual action polishers. The RUPES Random Orbital Backing Plate is essential for the stability of the BigFoot System. Manufactured from expanded polyurethane, it is particularly resistant to mechanical stresses. Together with the BigFoot foam polishing pad reduces vibration to a minimum. The material is useful for the manufacture of the Velcro provides an effective anchor for the foam polishing pad.

RUPES fitting notes:

• You should use the 125 mm version exclusively with the RUPES LHR 15ES BigFoot Polisher and the RUPES LHR 15III BigFoot Polisher. In addition, it accepts all 150 mm BigFoot foam polishing pads, all 150 mm BigFoot microfiber polishing pads and all 145 mm BigFoot wool polishing pads.
• The 150 mm version should is useful with the RUPES LHR 21III BigFoot Polisher. It accepts all 180 mm BigFoot foam polishing pads, all 170 mm BigFoot microfiber polishing pads and all 170 mm BigFoot wool polishing pads.
• You should use the 75 mm version exclusively with the Rupes LHR75 Pneumatic or LHR75E Electric Random Orbital Polisher.

General usage notes:

• Always switch off your machine at the mains before fitting or removing a backing plate.
• Make sure that you tighten the backing plate sufficiently, but without over tightening it.  A half turn of the hex key after it first pinches tight is usually sufficient for safe and effective use.
• Always use an appropriate sized backing plate for Random Orbital Backing Plate you are using. The pad should always protrude past the edge of the backing plate, never the other way around.
